How TeqMobility Was Built by Operators, for Operators

Most fleet software was built by people who've never run a fleet. TeqMobility wasn't.

Spend five minutes with anyone on the TeqMobility team and you'll hear the same thing: this platform wasn't dreamed up in a boardroom or copied from legacy rental systems. It was built by people who have lived the fleet grind — the billing, the compliance, the customer chaos, the late-night vehicle issues, the coverage headaches, and the constant pressure to keep cars moving safely. And that's exactly why TeqMobility works — it's fleet coverage for car sharing operators, built by the people who needed it most.

Who Is TeqMobility? Meet the Team Building the Future of Fleet Management

TeqMobility is fleet coverage for car sharing operators — a purpose-built operations platform serving everyone from single-vehicle owners to large, multi-state fleets. But the real differentiator isn't just the technology. It's the people building it.

Lauren, who leads operations and compliance, describes her role simply:

"My role is highly in operations… customer service, billing, accounting, collections, licensing, compliance — all of it."

She's not a product manager sitting at a distance from the customer. She's the person operators call when their payment is stuck, when their ID card hasn't generated, when their VIN is wrong, when their coverage lapses, or when they're confused about how off-rent coverage works. She's also the person who sees every friction point in the portal — and pushes to fix it.

"If it's confusing to me, it's confusing to the customer. Changes are made frequently to ensure a seamless experience."

That operator-driven feedback loop is the heartbeat of TeqMobility.

50+ Years of Fleet Experience. One Platform.

TeqMobility wasn't built by software engineers guessing what fleet owners need. It was built by operators who have collectively run fleets, managed claims, handled underwriting, built rental platforms, and navigated the messy realities of car sharing for more than 50 years.

Lauren explains it perfectly:

"Built by operators for operators… it's directed toward the smaller operators. We want to incentivize people to be better business owners — buy the second car, rent it out, take care of it."

The platform reflects that philosophy at every level:

  • Clearer billing logic — because operators know how painful reconciliation can be
  • Better fraud flags and account notes — because operators know what bad renters look like
  • Real-time vehicle scanning (coming soon) — because operators know manual photo review slows everything down
  • Cleaner UI and stronger visual alerts — because operators know customers miss things unless they're obvious
  • Automated holiday banners — because operators know customers will call even when the office is closed

Every improvement comes from real operational pain — not theoretical product ideas.

Here's How TeqMobility Got Built

Lauren's day-to-day work is a masterclass in how operator-driven platforms evolve.

Fixing the Portal One Real Problem at a Time

When she joined, the portal didn't have a place to store certificates of insurance.

"There was nowhere to save it… no section for certificates. That really helped it be more organized."

She pushed for a dedicated certificate section, internal notes and fraud flags, clearer cancellation banners, holiday closure alerts, easier navigation for new staff, better mobile compatibility, faster ACH posting, and real-time vehicle scanning for off-rent onboarding. None of these came from a product roadmap. They came from the front lines.

For software engineer Alex, building better tools starts with understanding what operations is dealing with every day.

"For example, giving the team the ability to block specific customers and vehicles at the VIN level. When a concern comes up, notes alone aren't always enough. The team needs a way to take action to protect both operators and drivers."

Alex helped turn that need into a working feature, giving operations more control over which customers and vehicles can participate in the platform.

Solving Customer Pain Points Operators Actually Face

Lauren handles hundreds of customer calls — and those calls directly shape the platform. The biggest recurring pain point:

"When will my payment go through? We've been dealing with an ACH problem… people pay and don't get their ID card for a week."

Another common issue:

"People upload the wrong vehicle, the wrong VIN, the wrong name… and then we need to fix."

These aren't hypothetical issues. They're daily realities for fleet operators — and TeqMobility is actively building automation to solve them.

Off-Rent vs. On-Rent — Who Each Product Is Built For

TeqMobility offers two core products: Off-Rent and On-Rent. Each serves a different type of operator.

Off-Rent: For Any Fleet Owner, Even One Car

Off-rent coverage protects vehicles when they're not in the hands of a renter — parked, waiting for a trip, being serviced, or sitting idle. It's ideal for Turo hosts, TripCity operators, independent fleet owners, and anyone managing 1–100+ vehicles.

"If you have one car and you're using TripCity or Turo, you can have us as your off rent. There's no minimum."

Off-rent customers use the portal to add or remove vehicles, upload photos (soon to be replaced by live scanning), generate ID cards, adjust coverage levels, and track when vehicles are active or inactive. It's simple, flexible, and built for operators who need coverage immediately.

On-Rent: For Established Operators With 25+ Vehicles

On-rent coverage protects vehicles during active rentals — when the car is in the hands of a driver. But this product is intentionally selective.

"You have to have 25 cars. We don't let you sign up with less than 25… and you have to have your own rental software already in place that can communicate with our API."

On-rent is ideal for large fleet operators, companies with their own rental app, platforms similar to TripCity, and operators who want full control of their rental ecosystem. It requires a deposit, a full underwriting review, API integration, a rental management system, and a formal onboarding process.

This selectivity ensures the platform remains stable, compliant, and scalable.

The Mission: Every State, Every Market, a Million Cars

When asked about TeqMobility's mission, Lauren didn't hesitate:

"We want to expand to every state… and eventually out of the country. Some parts of Canada have a very high demand for car sharing."

And the long-term vision from leadership is just as bold:

"The goal is a million cars in the platform."

That's not just a number — it's a commitment to building the most operator-friendly fleet insurance platform in the world.

Why TeqMobility Is Different

Lauren summed it up better than anyone:

" We're helping operators gain access."

And that's the difference. TeqMobility isn't trying to be Turo, HyreCar, or a rental marketplace. It's the infrastructure behind the operators — the bridge between fleet owners, rental platforms, and insurance carriers.

It's built by people who understand the chaos of fleet operations, the realities of customer behavior, the importance of automation, the need for clear communication, and the daily pressure operators face.

Most fleet software was built by people who've never run a fleet.
TeqMobility was built by the people who have.
