Understanding Coverage on the TeqMobility Platform
How Off-Rent and On-Rent coverage work and what TeqMobility’s role is.
Overview
TeqMobility is a mobility technology platform.
It facilitates access to insurance coverage made available through policies issued and administered by licensed insurance carriers.
TeqMobility is not an insurance company or insurance agency.
It does not sell, underwrite, or provide insurance advice.
All coverage decisions, limits, deductibles, and claims are governed solely by the carrier-issued policy terms.
What Is Off-Rent Coverage
Off-Rent Coverage refers to coverage that may apply when a vehicle is not actively rented.
This typically includes periods when a vehicle is:
- Idle
- Stored
- In transit
- Not booked on a rental platform
Off-Rent Coverage is subject to:
- Policy terms and conditions
- Eligibility requirements
- Ongoing carrier review
Approved Off-Rent Coverage establishes the baseline eligibility for a vehicle on the platform.
What Is On-Rent Coverage
On-Rent Coverage refers to coverage during periods when a vehicle is actively rented.
During an active rental:
- Insurance coverage may apply under an applicable carrier-issued policy.
- Coverage is subject to policy terms, conditions, exclusions, and eligibility rules.
On-Rent Coverage does not exist independently. It relies on approved Off-Rent Coverage being in place first.
Required Relationship Between Off-Rent and On-Rent Coverage
Access to On-Rent Coverage requires approved Off-Rent Coverage.
This means:
- Off-Rent Coverage must be active and approved before On-Rent Coverage can be requested.
- Off-Rent Coverage confirms vehicle eligibility and baseline compliance.
- Without approved Off-Rent Coverage, On-Rent Coverage is not available.
During rentals, coverage may apply under the On-Rent policy.
Outside rentals, coverage availability is governed by the Off-Rent policy terms.
All coverage remains subject to:
- Policy terms and exclusions
- Ongoing eligibility checks
- Carrier determinations
Carrier-Issued Policy Explanation
All coverage referenced on the TeqMobility platform is:
- Issued by a licensed insurance carrier
- Administered by that carrier
- Held under a policy owned by TeqMobility
TeqMobility’s role is limited to providing administrative and technical access to coverage made available under the carrier’s policy.
TeqMobility does not:
- Act as an insurer
- Act as an insurance agent or broker
- Determine claims outcomes
- Set coverage limits or deductibles
Those decisions are made exclusively by the carrier, based on the policy.
How Coverage Works on the Platform
- Vehicles must qualify for Off-Rent Coverage first.
- Once approved, access to On-Rent Coverage becomes available during active rentals.
- Coverage status changes automatically based on rental activity.
- All coverage is governed by the carrier’s policy rules, not platform discretion.
Purpose of This Structure
This framework exists to:
- Set clear regulatory expectations
- Reduce confusion around who provides insurance
- Clarify the difference between Off-Rent and On-Rent coverage
- Ensure compliance with carrier and state requirements
